- What browser is being used?
- IE and Edge are NOT supported.
- Android devices(by default) may use a browser other than Chrome. Chrome is the recommended browser for using the web app.
- Users may experience formatting issues on iOS Safari devices. Also, small screened devices are not as easy to manage.
2. Are you connected to the local network(either by WiFi or direct) that the CURB Hub is connected to?
- Using cell services has been seen to cause significant lag issues.
- You may experience issues if service is spotty.
3. What Device is being used?
- Tablets, laptops, and desktops are recommended for superior usability and the larger screens are easier to manage.
4. Check the connectivity of the CURB hub(s).
- If the email invite has been sent and your account has been created, check connectivity by clicking the three-horizontal bar menu option at the top right of the web app(app.energycurb.com) to open the menu. Select "Panels & Power Hubs” from the menu. Choose your CURB Hub to enter the hub’s configuration page. This page will display your connection using a series of five red or green dots. If you have any # of green dots, whether intermittent or constant, you are connected. Generally, this “warms up” to a full 4 or 5 dots.
- Fluctuations in the wattage, amperage, and cosign value also verifies connectivity.
- ATTN: It is possible to have connectivity but no wattage data. Selecting/deselecting MAIN check box will jog wattage reading.
5. Are you able to directly connect ethernet cable from the router to the CURB Hub?
- Recommended as best solution.
- Also verifies a working CURB Hub if there is PLC connection problems.
6. If using network security what ports need to be opened?
- The following ports need to be opened:
- messages.energycurb.com TCP ports 1884, 443, and 80
- curb-lamarr.s3-website-us-west-2.amazonaws.com TCP ports 443, 80
- 0.pool.ntp.org UDP port 123
- 1.pool.ntp.org UDP port 123
- 2.pool.ntp.org UDP port 123
- 3.pool.ntp.org UDP port 123
- Check for open ports at portchecker.co
7. HomePlug/PLC Connectivity Troubleshooting
- If HomePlug is functioning properly, all 3 lights on the PLC will be on.
- Generally if the reset button on the Homeplug has been pressed all the lights will not be on and you will need to reconfigure your Homeplug.
- To reconfigure HomePlug:
- 1. Download HomePlug utility at: http://www.tp-link.com/en/download/TL-PA4010_V1.html#Utility
- 2. Make sure HomePlug is plugged in, and open HomePlug utility.
- 3. Change Network Name to: CurbPowerHub
- (Its possible that for a few early versions, the name is: CurbPower Hub, but most will be CurbPowerHub, one word, camel-cased).
- Test for interference issues with other PLC devices. Unplug said devices during install and testing.
- You may try switching phases powering the CURB Hub by swapping orange and red wires on the voltage block of CURB Hub. If this does not connect CURB Hub switch wires back for next step.
- Next, you can try to power hub off different breaker of same ‘A’ phase. Do this by moving red wire to a different ‘A’ phase breaker.
8. Officially Unsupported Options:
- If you are not able to connect using PLC or ethernet an unsupported alternative is a WiFi to Ethernet adapter or in some case using Powerline network adapters
- WiFi to Ethernet adapters can allow the CURB to join your home network wirelessly. An example of a WiFi to Ethernet adapter can be seen here: https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Universal-Ethernet-Adapter-WNCE2001/dp/B003KPBRRW
- Powerline Network Adapters can be used to transmit a signal from your curb to your router using the electrical wiring in your house. An example can be seen here:https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Powerline-N300-Starter-XWNB5201/dp/B009WG6K66
